QFIL Tool (Qualcomm Flash Image Loader) is primarily used to flash stock or custom firmware images onto Qualcomm devices, especially when the device is bricked or needs restoration to its original state. This tool is particularly beneficial when over-the-air (OTA) updates are not possible or if the device fails to boot up properly.
QFIL Tool is compatible with a wide range of Qualcomm devices, including smartphones, tablets, and modems.
ROM Installation Guide Using QFIL:
- Download and install the Qualcomm USB driver on your PC. If you have already installed the driver, you can skip this step.
- Download and extract the Qualcomm Flash Image Loader (QFIL) tool on your PC.
- After extracting, right-click on ‘QFIL.exe’ and run it as an administrator to launch the QFIL Tool.
- Connect your mobile device to the PC in EDL Mode. To do this:
- Power off your mobile phone.
- Press the Volume UP + Volume Down buttons simultaneously and connect your device to the computer. Ensure your device is in EDL mode before connecting to the PC. Note that some mobile phones may require a different key combination to enter EDL mode.
- Once your mobile device is successfully connected, you should see “Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008” in the QFIL tool. Under ‘Select Build Type’, choose ‘Flat Build’.
- Click on the ‘Browse’ button and select your device’s stock firmware file (with .mbn, .elf, or .hex extension).
- Click on ‘Load XML’ and, in the pop-up window, select the rawprogram0.xml file and click ‘Open’.
- A second pop-up window will appear; here, select the patch0.xml file and click ‘Open’.
- Press the ‘Download’ button to initiate the flashing process on your device.
- Once you press the download button, the flashing process will begin. A progress bar will appear. Wait for the ‘Finish Download’ dialog box to appear.
- After the flashing process is complete, you will see a ‘Download Succeed’ or ‘Finish Download’ message in the QFIL tool. This indicates that you have successfully flashed your Qualcomm device using QFIL. Now, disconnect your device from the computer and allow some time for it to boot up, which may take 5-10 minutes on the first boot.
